Through many, many years, it has been the pleasure of dancing smoothly to good music and sharing a fun activity with wonderful people that have made square dancing attractive and long-lived. And square dancing with the Virginia Reelers is no exception. It's easier than you might think and it's a great opportunity to have some fun, meet new friends, and even get a little exercise!

Dance Schedule

Our 2010-2011 dance theme and caller calendar is now available. In addition to our regular callers George Jordan, Larry Winegard and Carl Brewer, we'll also be welcoming:

Dances from September through May are held from 7:30-10:00pm at Woodbrook Elementary School, 100 Woodbrook Drive, Charlottesville. Singles and couples are welcome.

 

June, July and August dances will be held in air conditioned comfort at the Senior Center, 100 Pepsi Place, Charlottesville. Singles and couples are welcome.

 

Student and Class Update

The Virginia Reelers congratulate 11 new members who successfully completed our fall 2009 and spring 2010 mainstream class. They include Ted and Diane Parlette; Phil and Elissa Tatton; Bev Maresca; Peter Fink; Debbie Willing; Ariana and Jim Coates; and Dave and Linda Terrell.

 

Looking for Other Area Dances!

With so many clubs in Central Virginia and the Valley, you can find a square dance just about every weekend of the year! Be sure to check our our dance calendars for details on all dances, locations and callers! Remember, if you bring a square of 8 to another club dance, you get to take their club banner home with you. The only way they can get it back, is to bring a square to your dance. It's a great way to increase dance squares and get to meet dancers from other clubs.

 

Square Dance Demonstrations

The Virginia Reelers also have provided square dance demonstrations at a wide range of local events and for a number of local groups, including:

• The 2009 Albemarle County Fair

• The Senior Center in Charlottesville

• The Cedars in Charlottesville

• The Colonnades Health Care Center in Charlottesville

• The Laurels of Charlottesville
